Wolf Haven International Earns Accreditation from Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries. Posted August 27, 2015 “Wolf Haven International truly maintains the welfare of the wolves as their greatest priority as demonstrated by their highly naturalized wolf habitats and their “hands-off” animal management practices”, says Kellie Heckman, Executive Director of GFAS.
Wolf Haven International is a sanctuary for captive-born, displaced wolves. Over 200 wolves have been rescued (many from private ownership) since 1982 and given a safe, lifetime home. 50-minute guided walks through the public area of the sanctuary are available by reservation.
Visitors may also choose to take a self-guided walk on a trail through native mounded prairie and visit the wolf memorial cemetery. Reservations can be made online or by phone. Because all sanctuary visits are quiet, science-based and content-driven, the experience is not recommended for children under the age of six. 1 starFrommer's Recommended2 starsFrommer's Very Highly Recommended3 starsFrommer's ExceptionalAbout Our SystemFrommer's only recommends things we think you will enjoy and that willmake your trip both authentic and unforgettable.
